NDIS – National Disability Insurance Scheme
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is implementing the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to support a better life for Australians with a significant and permanent disability.
The NDIS will help people with disability to:
Access mainstream services and support;
Access community services and supports;
Maintain information support arrangements and
Receive reasonable and necessary funded supports
The NDIS will support people with disability to build skills and capability so they can participate in the community and employment using innovative and new approaches that:
Assist people with the transition to individualised and/or self-directed funding;
Support people with disability to exercise choice and control;
Support the growth and skilling of the disability workforce and
Help transition disability service organisation to a NDIS environment, including providing person-centred support and managing individualised funding arrangements.
